Chick-fil-A remains providing huge amount of money to anti-LGBTQ teams

Fastfood string donated $1.6 million to a company with a “sexual purity” policy that bans “homosexual functions”

It was okay to do so — here’s some food for thought: the fast-food chain continues to donate millions to anti-LGBTQ groups if you’re still regularly eating at Chick-fil-A — or recently returned, thinking.

Yes, the chicken sandwich purveyor, very long decried by LGBTQ activists for suspect corporate contributions and CEO Dan Cathy’s opposition to same-sex marriage, is nevertheless assisting investment businesses that oppose LGBTQ liberties.

Relating to Think Progress, the Chick-fil-A Foundation, the fast-food chain’s charitable arm, donated significantly more than $1.8 million to three anti-LGBTQ teams in 2017.

The largest amount, $1.6 million, went along to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a religious company that needs its people to stick to a “sexual purity” policy that outlaws “homosexual acts.”

$150,000 was handed towards the Salvation Army, that has for ages been at odds with LGBTQ liberties, including saying they don’t discriminate against hiring LGBTQ individuals while additionally fighting against rules that will avoid them from discriminating against LGBTQ people.

A 3rd donation of $6,000 was handed to your Paul Anderson Youth Home, a “Christian residential house for distressed teenage boys,” but which apparently teaches that being gay is incorrect and same-sex wedding is against “Jesus Christ and their values.”

On its web site, Chick-fil-A claims that its contribution towards the Fellowship of Christian Athletes had been “used to invest in activities camps and school programs for inner-city youth in several places,” and that “children who participate into the activities camps and school development are not essential become people in FCA or signal any FCA pledge.”
